Carnival of minerz

The carnival of Potosi

in Bolivia

About the project

The carnival of Potosi in Bolivia is the traditional feast of miners who live and work in one of the highest mines in the world.

The patron of miners, the Devil, has combined both positive – Indian mythology – and negative – Catholic – roots. The miners attributed their good fortune directly with a grace of the devil, and thank him in their crazy carnival dances.

Leila went to Bolivia after Young Pathfinder offered her to do a series about miners’ life in Sought America. Leila came back with a beautiful photo report.
